Obesity is epidemic in the USA. If you were to look at a map of the United States with county-by-county data of the percentage of people who are obese, however, you would find that there are many places where 90 percent of the population is normal weight.

When I first qualified as a personal trainer and fitness instructor 15 years ago there was very little in the public arena about what is now the seemingly national and international problem (in certain countries) of childhood obesity. So what is it that has changed so dramatically in the lives of children and what can be done about it? Quite clearly there are many factors to the problem and likewise many aspects to the solution.
